Islamic Studies Scholarships

The Mahmoud S Taman Foundation is granting scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students who are pursuing an education with an emphasis in Islamic studies.


To encourage and provide assistance to students pursuing Islamic studies with the intention of serving as Islamic educators, scholars, leaders, religious practitioners, chaplains, or guidance counselors and who are committed to leadership and Islam. The Foundation's intent is to support a new, young generation of Islamic scholars who will provide progressive responses in the teaching and outreach of Islam.


  1. Muslims who are undergraduate or graduate students.
  2. Attending college in the current academic year at an accredited US institution at the graduate or undergraduate levels.
  3. Majoring in Islamic Studies or a related degree such as Islamic History.
  4. Must have at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  5. Demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, religious service, extracurricular or other activities.

Complete the short form below and upload the following documents:

  1. A short personal statement explaining your goals and why you merit the scholarship
  2. Two letters of recommendation; one from a professor and one from a religious leader
  3. Academic transcripts including your GPA (unofficial)
  4. Your resume
  5. Any material you wish to submit such as articles, videos, publications

Note: We receive a significant number of applicants. You will be notified only if you are offered the scholarship. Scholarships winners will be notified October 31st, 2019
